Virtual Quad Run Details

Dear Highmark Quad Run/Walk Participant,

The Highmark Quad Virtual Run Event (co-sponsored by Equitable Advisors) is here!  Thank you for registering for this year’s events and supporting the YMCA’s COVID Relief Fund.

All participants have between September 6 -20 to run/walk 5 miles or a 5K (or the Quad Kids 1-mile or .5 mile).  The Quad Run course (in Waterford, PA) will be marked and participants can complete their run on the Quad Run course, on their own course, or on a treadmill. Please note that the course hasn’t been marked due to the rain.  We will have it marked as soon as possible.  A map of the 5K and 5-mile course is attached and Strava segments have been uploaded into Strava.

Then you will submit your time through Big White Trailers virtual submission page.

Due to safety concerns we will not be offering overall and age group awards in 2020.  We don’t want to encourage racing on open race courses without proper aid stations, fire police and traffic control.  You can still earn prizes by participating in our Strava segment competition and our photo contest/scavenger hunt.  All registered runners/walkers will get a voucher for a free small ice cream cone at Mr. Shiver’s Custard Treats in Waterford, PA

American Legion Sign: snap a picture of the American Legion sign and tag them on your social media accounts for a chance to win an annual membership.

• Mr. Shiver’s Custom Treat Sign:  snap a picture outside of Mr. Shivers or of yourself enjoying your FREE ice cream and tag them on your social media accounts for a chance to win a gift certificate.
• Starting Line: Snap a picture before all the fun begins!
• 5K Turn Around: So close but so far away!  It’s downhill from here.
• Finish Line: the most glorious site around!
• Conquering the Hill: take a photo at the top of any hill.  Show us your muscles!
• Best Costume: take your fun to the next level and dress up for your run/walk.  Take a selfie and share on our Facebook page! 
• Family Selfie: Invite your family to join the fun or snap a family selfie (before, during or after the run)
• Best Military Tribute: snap a picture of you showing your best stars and stripes to pay tribute to our military.  Take it a step further and complete your run with an American flag or in your military uniform. Tag the American Legion on your social media accounts for a chance to win an annualmembership.

4.     Strava Segments – top runner and other random awards to those who post a time on our Strava segments along the course

• Bagdad Boogie (1/2 mile: starts at 1.5 mile mark)
• Tough as Swailes (the entire length of this road)
• Sedgewick Sprint (~100 yards: just after the 5K turn around)
• The Kick (final quarter mile)

Don’t forget that registration is open through September 20, so invite a friend or family member to join the fun!  Registration is only $10!

This year’s run event will be FREE to all military Personnel and Veterans, thanks to the Fort LeBoeuf American Legion Post #285. All interested military personnel and veterans should use code LEGIONQUADRUN2020 when registering.

ATTENTION SERIES PARTICIPANTS – we have decided to open the virtual online submission for swim times from July 1 – December 31.  We don’t know what the fall will look like and want to give people an opportunity to post swim times while you have access to outdoor pools and/or lakes.  Never swim alone and be sure to abide by all swim safety tips, but keep your eyes peeled for more details on the swim event.
