IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME IN THE HIGHMARK QUAD GAMES . . .
Congratulations on taking your first (watery) step. If this is your first time participating in the Highmark QUAD, here are a few guidelines that might answer some questions:
- THE SWIM TIME FACTOR. When you cross the finish line of the bike, run or ski, your time will be recorded and added just as it is to your overall time. However because of the relatively short distance of the swim, a multiplier is used to make the end product more equal. When you look at the swim results, the first column will show your actual time, the second column will show your swim time multiplied by 30. For results purposes in the QUAD Swim, each second is thirty seconds. A person who completes the swim in one minute will have an effective time added to their overall standings of thirty minutes.
- HIGHMARK QUAD AWARDS. To be eligible for an age group or overall award at any Highmark QUAD event, you have to have completed the previous season's events. Since the recent swim is the first event of the season, all participants qualify and are eligible for age group awards. At the Highmark QUAD Bike, only participants who have completed the swim will be eligible for an award. At the run, participants need to have completed the swim and bike with the same stipulation adding the run for the cross-country ski event.
- HIGHMARK QUAD RECORDS. Highmark QUAD Records are only valid if the participant completes all four events during the season that the record is set.
- THE UPCOMING EVENTS. Dates and times for the remaining season events are listed above.
- HIGHMARK QUAD CHAMPION SHIRT. Following the completion of the 20010/11 season, all participants who have completed the four events will receive a long-sleeve Highmark QUAD Champion Shirt. The Champion Shirt cannot be purchased and is awarded only to those that have completed all four events.
